Description:
I was a witness at the freight train accident on 10/14/2024, where several people were trapped under the train and one critically injured. This intersection along with the other intersections along Harbor that intersect with the freight tracks are not designed to adequately protect pedestrian safety to handle the convention center and Rady Shell concert crowds. I urge the city to look into implementing crowd management on event days around these areas in coordination with BNSF trains. There should be officers on site directing people where to wait from a safe distance while the train passes AND the officers should be in communication with the freight train company to inform crowds on how long the wait will take (if a few minutes then wait, if longer then direct people to the overpass bridge).
