After submitting a request for New Service, an Additional Container, or a Replacement Container, you’ll receive an approval email with a link to pay for your containers online (plus a 3% surcharge) with a credit card. If you’d prefer to not pay online, the following payment options are also available:
- To pay in person: Bring the email with your case number and your payment to the address below. The City accepts all major credit cards (no surcharge when paid in person), checks, and money orders. Cash is not accepted.
- To pay by check: Mail your check to the address listed below. Please write your case number (from the approval email) in the Memo/For section of the check. The check must be payable to “City Treasurer.”

City-observed holidays.What happens to my old container?If you requested the replacement of a container, provided an old container serial number, and paid for delivery, your old container will be removed at the time of delivery of the new one. The old container must be empty. Deliveries are scheduled one day after normal collection.
If you are replacing your old container and picking up a new container in person from Collection Services you must bring your empty old container. If you are paying a discounted price for replacement, you must also bring your old container reported on the request as damaged.
If your container is under warranty, replacement wheels and lids are available at no charge from 8353 Miramar Place facility weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. City staff members can show how to perform lid and wheel replacement. Please bring the damaged lid with you for recycling. If you're unable to bring the damaged lid, it can be disposed of in your recycling container. Please provide a picture or written down serial number of the container you are requesting lids or wheels for.
